Prosurgics Appoints new CEO to drive growth plan

Prosurgics, the surgical robotics company, today announced the appointment of Douglas Le Fort as CEO, with effect from 1st March 2009. Le Fort, 43 joined the Prosurgics board in July 2008 as Chief Financial Officer. Previously he was Head of Finance for the international business of Abbott Laboratories, Diabetes Care Division. Prior to that he was with Chiron, a NASDAQ listed company, as CFO for the European Biopharmaceuticals division and has also held a number of senior finance positions within SC Johnson working in the US, Europe and Asia. He is CIMA qualified and has an MBA from Henley Management College. He replaces Paul Moraviec who leaves to rejoin the large corporate med-device world.

Prosurgics has recently commenced customer shipments of its award winning FreeHand robotic camera controller for keyhole surgery.

Kevin D’Silva, Prosurgics’ non-executive Chairman commented, “Douglas has already made an outstanding contribution to the planning and implementation of the FreeHand launch. Douglas Le Fort said of his appointment, “The Prosurgics business is accelerating rapidly, our European sales teams are getting substantial traction in the market and we are expecting FDA clearance shortly, enabling us to begin addressing the huge US market need. The building blocks are in place, our strategy is clear, and I am excited by the opportunity to lead this business through to early and rapidly growing profitability.
