Bracknell, UK – 28 January 2011
Freehand 2010, the medical robotics company, has been appointed to the Innovative Technology Adoption Procurement Programme (iTAAP) by the Department of Health.
This means that Freehand, which markets and manufactures the Freehand laparoscopic camera controller, is now an official technology partner to the NHS. Against a background of the NHS using innovation to increase quality and productivity in the face of giant budget shortfalls Freehand is helping surgeons cut time and costs from operations.
iTAAP is supporting the NHS in increasing the uptake and diffusion of innovation.
Freehand CEO Douglas LeFort commented:
“This is a terrific vote of confidence in the Freehand robotic technology which is already helping surgeons achieve better outcomes faster, and is saving money in hospitals across the UK (and USA). The surgeon community is now able to deploy Freehand for solo surgery and also for single port potential during operations.”
