Company profile

Prosurgics is dedicated to pioneering a new generation of innovative but affordable surgical robots. Its range of robotic solutions helps improve patient outcomes and healthcare economics in hospitals around the world. The company's technology portfolio encompasses image guided and tele-manipulator systems, surgical planning and intra-operative navigation.

With offices in the UK (Bracknell), USA (Cupertino, CA) and Germany and a global network of expert distributors, Prosurgics delivers innovative and effective solutions for today's surgeons and hospitals around the world.

The Prosurgics business started life in 1996, then named Armstrong Healthcare. The company was founded following the completion of an Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) feasibility study into possible applications for robotics in medicine and healthcare; this identified over 400 possible applications for robotics in medicine. Armstrong quickly focused down to the specific area of surgical robotics, and over the following decade developed a portfolio of technologies, and two 1st generation products in this field: EndoAssist, a laparoscopic camera controller; and Pathfinder Neuro, the image-guided positioner for stereotactic neurosurgery. Armstrong changed its name to Prosurgics in September 2006 to reflect the positive evolution of the company as it augmented its strong technological foundations to become a truly customer focused and commercially led business.
