Mark has over twenty five years experience in emerging healthcare companies. He joined Medic-Aid Ltd at an early stage and was responsible for significant growth of the business. He led an MBO from the original owners in 1994 and subsequently floated the company on the full list of the London Stock Exchange as Profile Therapeutics plc in March 2000. Subsequently the company was purchased by Respironics in July 2004.
Since that time Mark has worked with a number of high growth medical / pharmaceutical companies and is currently Chairman of Glide Pharma, a specialty pharmaceutical company; Chairman of Eykona Technologies which is developing 3D imaging products for healthcare markets; and Non Executive Director of Nigaard A/S, a Norwegian specialty pharmaceutical company.
Douglas joined Prosurgics in June 2008 from Abbott Laboratories where he was Head of Finance for the international business of their Diabetes Care Division. Prior to this, he worked at Chiron Corporation, a NASDAQ listed company and held a number of senior finance positions at the US consumer products company, SC Johnson & Son and what was the Dutch packaging group, Van Leer. He has more than 10 years experience at an executive level with the commercial management of high growth medical and consumer products; particularly with responsibilities for new product launches. He has also gained significant experience with previous responsibilities for supply chain, manufacturing as well as finance, IT and change management projects, both working and living in Europe, Asia as well as in the U.S.
Douglas is a Chartered Management Accountant and holds a MBA from Henley Management College.
Following his first degree Colin worked in clinical research for 7 years before joining neurodiagnostic market leaders Medelec Ltd (part of Vickers Medical Division). His roles with Medelec encompassed management of marketing, customer support and new product development programmes, starting as Product Development Manager through to Business Group Manager in 1997. During his time with Medelec he specialised particularly in the specification and launch of new product lines. Moving to Oxford Instruments PLC as Marketing Manager for Neurophysiology and New Business, he successfully managed a marketing team with global responsibility for a £20m turnover.
As Director of Marketing from 2001-03 with UK start-up business Cardionetics, he launched the company's products on the international stage, and a achieved a strategic alliance with a global partner.
Colin has a Cranfield MBA and joined Prosurgics in April 2003.
Justin is a mechanical engineer by training, with 12-years successful experience in manufacturing and operations management in both small startup and large corporate environments. He has a record of achievement in managing both UK and SE Asia based operations teams.
He joins Prosurgics from UK medical device startup Adlens, where he was responsible for the manufacturing, supply chain, quality and facility needs of that rapidly growing business. He successfully developed its capabilities and facilities from an embryonic stage in a university lab to a purpose-refitted building complete with all required facilities for product development and manufacture. Previous to this at LifeScan, part of medical giant Johnson&Johnson, Justin led the successful design for manufacture and high volume production line specification for a proposed new product line.
Earlier in his career, Justin held positions with Bookham Technology and Hewlett Packard, where starting as a graduate engineer he was fast-track promoted to look after the process engineering team supporting both UK and SE Asia manufacturing. Justin has a UK bachelor of engineering degree and joins Prosurgics in January 2010.
Larry has extensive experience as Finance Director in a number of private and public companies. After qualifying as an accountant he spent several years working for large multi national companies both in the UK and overseas including Motorola and ITT, experiencing the challenges associated with rapid growth and restructuring.
He subsequently joined a private equity backed company, IMP Europe Ltd where as Finance Director he was responsible for overseeing development of the company from loss making to profitability, and ultimately the successful sale of the business. Most recently Larry has been Finance Director of a number of private equity backed businesses and a public company. At Prosurgics he works on a part time basis.
Bill brings extensive experience with more than 19 years in sales, marketing and business development for venture capital-backed growth companies, almost all of it specific to medical devices. He has been involved in multiple successful mergers and acquisitions and an IPO. Before joining Prosurgics, Bill was Senior Vice President of Business Development, Marketing and Sales for Nanomix, Inc., a medical device company focused on diagnostics and monitoring applications. Prior to that, Bill held the position of Vice President, Worldwide Marketing and International Sales at VNUS Medical Technologies, Inc., a minimally invasive vascular surgery company that went public in October 2004. Prior to that, he served in senior management positions at companies such as Endovasix, Inc., Influence Medical Technologies, Ltd., and Indigo Medical, Inc.
Bill holds a B.S. from Georgetown University, and a Masters in International Management from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird). Bill joined Prosurgics in July, 2008.
Rhona Sim has been a non-executive director of Prosurgics since 2002. Dr. Sim is responsible for the UK investment portfolio of a Norwegian domiciled private investment fund, Fritas A/S, that manages the investment interests of Ove Hoegh and family. Prior to this, she was employed as a Eurobond trader at Credit Suisse First Boston and at Daiwa Securities in London, and also worked in Norway for two years as an equity analyst for Ove Hoegh. Dr. Sim was educated at the University of Glasgow (M.A.) and the London School of Economics (M.Sc., PhD) and holds a Diploma in Corporate Finance from the London Business School. She is also a non-executive director of Im-Pak Technologies Ltd. and Kinomi Ltd.
John is a director of portfolio companies Atraverda Ltd, Metalysis Ltd and Prosurgics Ltd. He is also the chairman of CIP Technologies Ltd, a photonics manufacturer.
John started his career as a financial analyst with broker Hoare Govett, covering the pharmaceutical industry. He subsequently moved on to investment and management roles in the investment industry. As a director of Warburg Investment Management (which became Mercury Asset Management plc), he turned round the US business, and then at Citibank Global Asset Management he again rebuilt an orphaned investment business within a bank. As a founder of Sagitta Asset Management Ltd, John led this wealth management start-up into alternative investments in the mid 1990s, namely private equity and hedge funds. Having exited Sagitta in 2000, John became CEO of Vesta Capital Partners, a venture firm focussed on financial services technology.
John received a BA (Hons) in Economics from the University of Manchester and is a Fellow of the Royal Society.
Barry has over fifteen years of experience in manufacturing and quality management for a diverse range of medical devices, including cardiology and respiratory products. In addition he has successfully led purchasing, production and international order fulfilment operations.
Barry joined Prosurgics from Spacelabs Healthcare Ltd, where he was the Director of Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs. His responsibilities included the implementation and supervision of Global Quality Management Systems accredited to ISO 9000 and ISO 13485, and maintaining regulatory compliance across multiple sites. He has an MSc in Manufacturing Management and is a member of the UK’s Chartered Quality Institute.
Rainer has over twenty five years of successful sales experience in various sectors including automotive and medical devices.
Following his first degree he worked for ten years at Robert Bosch Group, a leading high tech automotive business. Under Rainer's sales leadership the first generation of car navigation system was successfully introduced.
Joining Philips Consumer Electronics he was responsible for sales in Germany, before being promoted to Sales Director for Central and Eastern Europe with responsibility for €200m turnover.
Rainer joined Prosurgics in September 2008 from Smith & Nephew's medical device business in Germany. He holds a MBA (Academy of Business and Administration, Aachen).
Andrew has accrued twenty four years of successful sales and commercial management experience in the UK and European Endoscopy/Laparoscopy market.
He joins Prosurgics having worked for Fortune-500 company Stryker Corporation since 1995. Following sales roles with Merck, Du Pont and US Surgical, he commenced his career with Stryker as a Territory Sales Manager. Rapid progression led to senior sales and marketing management positions. Most recently Andrew was the EMEA Sales & Marketing Director for the GI and MedSurg divisions, responsible for growing the endoscopy and instruments business. Andrew joined Prosurgics in July 2009.
Phil has over 20 years extensive experience in developing and growing international business in the medical device and disposables sector. He has built and managed distributor and direct market operations throughout the world and has been employed by companies including Johnson and Johnson, Gyrus and Astron Clinica.
The medical sectors that Phil has worked in include Laparoscopy, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Dermatology and Aesthetic Medicine. Phil joined Prosurgics in September 2008.
